The Laboratory for Meteorite Analysis and Classification (LMAC) is a laboratory of the Institute for Meteorite Research a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides EPMA (microprobe) analysis and classification services for new and suspected meteorites. EPMA – Electron microprobe analysis using a combination of quantitative WDS, EDS, and BSE imaging is appropriate for all suspected meteorites, *except samples composed entirely of metal.
The EPMA option is appropriate for suspected chondrite, achondrite, pallasite, mesosiderite, and primitive achondrite samples with at least some silicate material, even if they are mostly metal.
